Interlaw is an elite international network that connects leading independent law firms, each among the most respected in their jurisdiction. The gathering in Edinburgh, which is Interlaw's most attended meeting yet, demonstrates Scotland’s place in international business discussions, where delegates will be convening to discuss global issues shaping business, investment and regulation.
MFMac has been selected to host the four-day event and has played an active role in shaping the programme. The programme includes high-level discussions on topics such as: M&A in Scotland, the global real estate market, artificial intelligence and deepfakes, energy, infrastructure and climate change.
Throughout the four days, delegates will also take part in Interlaw Cares community projects, supporting local organisations including the Multi-Cultural Family Base and the Water of Leith Conservation Trust.
Chris Harte, Chief Executive Officer of MFMac, said: “It’s a real privilege to welcome so many colleagues from around the world to Edinburgh. This is the first time in almost 40 years that Interlaw’s Annual Global Meeting has been held here, and it comes at a particularly exciting time as Scotland strengthens its place on the international stage.
“At MFMac we often describe ourselves as a new style of law firm - open, clear and forward-looking - and that outlook fits well with Interlaw’s mission on building connections across borders. This opportunity feels like the right partnership, in the right city, at the right moment.”
Michael Pattinson, Chair of Interlaw, added: “This meeting is about much more than a meeting of international lawyers - it’s about sharing ideas that matter to businesses and communities everywhere.
“The fact that so many delegates have travelled here this year shows the importance of collaboration in a rapidly changing world. We’re thrilled to be in Edinburgh for the first time, and to be working alongside MFMac as our host.”
Alongside the conference programme, delegates will experience some of Scotland’s cultural highlights, including a whisky tasting at the Johnnie Walker Experience, a ceilidh, and a cocktail reception at Edinburgh Castle.
