Caroline is an accredited specialist in employment law, advising clients on every aspect of the employer/employee relationship.
Caroline acts for employer clients on contentious and non-contentious matters. This includes assisting employers with matters such as disciplinary proceedings, grievances and performance and ill health management. She also advises employers on TUPE, workforce restructuring, redundancies, settlement agreements and employment contracts and policies.
As well as advising employers, Caroline also acts for employees assisting them to enforce their employment rights. Caroline has an appreciation for how stressful matters can be for employees when the employment relationship sours and is conscious that employees need a solicitor who is supportive, responsive and fights their corner for the best possible outcome.
Caroline has written articles on topical employment matters for The Scotsman as well as other publications and regularly delivers training to employers and HR professionals.
In our weekly podcast, David Hossack and Caroline Maher discuss the Employment Appeal Tribunal case of Omooba v Michael Garrett Associates Ltd (T/A Global Artists) and another in which the EAT considered whether there had been direct religion or belief discrimination or harassment when a Christian actor was dismissed from a role.
