Jamie is a Senior Solicitor in our Commercial team.
Jamie has broad experience advising on commercial contracts, information technology, intellectual property, data protection and freedom of information compliance. He supports a wide range of clients across the public, private and third sectors, offering pragmatic, tailored advice to enhance and protect MFMac's clients' business operations.
With a particular focus on the technology sector, Jamie regularly helps his clients implement emerging technologies—including Artificial Intelligence—effectively and responsibly. His work spans supporting innovative tech startups in commercialising cutting-edge ideas to advising established organisations on the compliant adoption of new digital tools.
Jamie is also part of MFMac’s contribution to the Cyber and Fraud Centre Scotland’s incident response cadre, which assists organisations in managing cyber incidents and developing long-term strategies to manage cyber risk.
Beyond his work, Jamie is committed to supporting the next generation of lawyers as a career mentor with the Law Society of Scotland, helping students navigate their path into the legal profession.
From Apple Watches to Fitbits and Strava, fitness trackers are everywhere. These devices have evolved far beyond simple step counters. Today, they monitor everything from heart rate and sleep to menstrual cycles and even stress levels. Many are also using artificial intelligence to tailor workouts and improve performance. With all this personal data being collected, it’s important to ask: how is it being used, stored and protected?
With thousands of students across Scotland receiving their exam results next week, MFMac is launching a new initiative to support young people considering a future in law. The MFMac Career Helpline, running from 4-8th August, will provide live career advice for students during Scotland’s exam results week. The initiative is designed to break down barriers and offer practical guidance for aspiring lawyers, particularly those without industry connections or mentors, and help parents navigate their children’s career options.
