MFMac is buzzing to sponsor the Scottish Beekeepers' Association's (SBA) Honey Tent at the Royal Highland Show which celebrates one of nature's vital workers.
Bees play a crucial role in pollination, supporting ecosystems and food production. Without them, the balance of our natural environment and many of the foods we rely on would be at risk. It is estimated that about 30% of food in the human food chain has been facilitated by bees and other pollinators.
The SBA, founded in 1912, continues to be a leading voice in promoting and supporting beekeeping and bee health across Scotland. For over 30 years, the Scottish Beekeepers' Association has hosted the Honey Tent on behalf of the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland. Visitors can enjoy:
- Live honeybee displays offering a close-up look at the inner workings of a hive and the teamwork of the colony
- A honey tasting station where a wide variety of local Scottish honeys can be sampled
- Talks and workshops by expert beekeepers about honey production, bee health and bee-friendly gardening advice to make your garden more welcome to pollinators
- Fun and hands-on children's activities like beeswax candle rolling and scavenger hunts to inspire young nature lovers
- Competition displays of beautifully presented creations within the tent
MFMac has been a proud supporter of the SBA for many years. It’s a small but meaningful way we contribute to raising awareness of the vital importance of pollinators and the dedicated work of Scotland’s beekeeping community.
We're looking forward to another year at the Royal Highland Show and hope to see many of you in the Honey Tent!
